A Clark County R-1 High School student was injured in an accidental shooting on Thursday evening, September 3.
According to CCR-1 Superintendent Ritchie Kracht, “A student was unloading their gun from their vehicle for FFA Trap Team practice and leaned the gun against their vehicle. The gun fell over and discharged striking another student in the lower leg. The coaches administered first aid until the Clark County EMS arrived. The student was life-flighted to The University of Iowa Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot injury.”
“The coaches will review all the safety rules and procedures with students. We don’t expect any significant changes. It was a very unfortunate accident which could have been a lot worse,” added Kracht.
