The Clark County Lady Indians dropped their Clarence Cannon Conference opener, on the road at Monroe City.
After a scoreless first Inning, the Lady Indians put runners on base with two ours. Hannah Hill walked, and Emma Ross was hit by a pitch. Hill and Ross stole third and second, and Genna Edmondson walked to load the bases. Erin Bash singled to score Hill, giving Clark County a 1-0 lead.
The third inning opened with Kiara Brunk popping out at the plate. Elly Hamner was hit by a pitch and took first, where Ally Fox took her place as a pinch runner. Darian Harper singled. Ashtyn Ebeling hit into a fielder’s choice, advancing Fox and Harper. Fox scored on a Monroe City error, giving Clark County a 2-0 lead.
Monroe City would answer with two runs in the fourth, and another pair of fifth-inning runs to claim the 4-2 win.
Ebeling pitched four innings, giving up five hits and two runs. Alexis Ellison also allowed five hits and two runs in her two innings of pitching. The Lady Indians had only four hits, with Harper leading with two.
