The Clark County Lady Indians hosted LaPlata on Thursday evening, September 17.
LaPlata struck first, putting a run across the plate in the first inning.
Alexis Ellison answered quickly for the Lady Indians with double. She would score on a Kiara Brunk single, and after one inning, the score was knotted at 1-1
Clark County added a trio of runs in the second inning. After a lead-off double by Ashtyn Ebeling, Gena Edmondson singled to bring Ebeling home. Olivia Miller walked, and Ellison popped out to the shortstop.
Ally Fox grounded out, and both Edmondson and Miller advanced. Brunk walked to load the bases, and Elly Hamner doubled to score two runs.
Clark County added four more in the third inning. Edmondson singled with two outs, followed by a single by Miller. Ellison homered to left, clearing the bases. Fox singled, and advanced to third on an error. Fox scored on a double by Brunk.
Neither team scored again until the sixth inning, when Brunk hit a lead-off single, then stole second. She moved to third on a ground out by Hamner. Brunk scored on a ground out by Darian Harper, and Clark County claimed a 9-3 win.
Ellison went the distance on the mound, throwing 117 pitches. She struck out 10, and booked zero walks. She allowed six hits and three runs.
Clark County rolled up nine runs on thirteen hits. Kiara Brunk had three hits to lead the Lady Indian batters. Ellison accounted for three RBI’s.
Clark County is now 6-3, and will face Brookfield on Monday night on the road. They will travel to Lancaster to face Schuyler County on Wednesday, and will be home Thursday against Highland.
