The Clark County R-1 Board of Education met in regular session on January 13, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Library located at 680 East Main St, in Kahoka, Missouri. Mark Plenge, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
Members present: Mark Plenge, Doug James, Charles West, Jason Acklie, Craig Hunziker, Kevin Ross and Heather Webster.
Administration present: Dr. Ritchie Kracht, Superintendent; Jason Harper, Jason Church, Megan Wendling, Betsy Parrish, Ethan Allen, and Katrina Nixon, Principals.
Guests: Kay Sprague, Brad Nelson, Evelena Sutterfield, Ardith Harmon, Cheyanne Loebach, and Joe Vineyard.
The following Consent Agenda was discussed:

Motion made by Jason Acklie, seconded by Heather Webster to approve the consent agenda as presented. Aye 6. Nay 0. Charles West abstain.
Brad Nelson requested to speak to the Board to request home school students be able to participate in school sports. The Board had a lengthy discussion about the current MSHSAA rules. Mr. Church offered to collect information from surrounding schools to be reviewed at the next meeting.
Dr. Kracht asked Evelena Sutterfield, of the health department, to share the current COVID numbers in Clark county. The health department is offering the option to reduce quarantine lengths effective January 14, 2021. The school agreed that with the current positivity rate the reduction in quarantine time would be acceptable for school related quarantines.
Mr. Harper and Mr. Church talked about how students are struggling academically in orange status. Switching to the mask mandate was discussed. The Board wants to continue in orange status for now to find out if the holiday gatherings will cause a spike in the county positive cases. The board will reevaluate the situation in two weeks.
Mr. Harper is also going to discuss with junior parents about changing the date of prom to May 29th. He will bring the information for discussion to the February board meeting.
Motion was made by Jason Acklie, seconded by Craig Hunziker to hold a special board meeting on January 27th at 6:00 pm. Aye 7. Nay 0.
Motion was made by Charles West, seconded by Kevin Ross to set the date for the February meeting for Wednesday, February 10 at 6:00 pm. Aye 7. Nay 0.
Motion made by Kevin Ross, seconded by Charles West to enter into closed session with a closed record and closed vote as allowed pursuant to section RSMO 610.021,
