The Clark County Health Department has begun giving COVID-19 vaccinations. Over the past couple weeks, more than 200 first doses of the Moderna vaccine have been delivered.
Vaccinations are currently available for people in Phase 1A and Tier 1 and 2 of Phase 1B. Phase 1A included healthcare workers and long-term care residents and staff. Phase 1B includes three tiers. The first includes public health workers, law enforcement, fire services, corrections emergency management, public works and emergency services.
Tier 2 is for individuals with higher risks, including those 65 and older, or those with cancer, kidney disease, COPD, heart conditions, weakened immune system due to transplant, severe obesity, pregnancy, sickle cell, Type 2 diabetes and those with intellectual disabilities.
According to the Health Department, the number of people falling in Tier 2 is very large, so it will be some time before any Tier 3 residents will be eligible.
Tier 3 includes K-12 education, childcare, communications, energy, dams, food and agriculture, government, information technology, nuclear, transportation and water and wastewater systems.
Phase 2 will include other risk populations, and Phase 3 will be for the rest of Missouri residents.
You can get on the list for an appointment by calling the Clark County Health Department. You will be contacted when your tier is being vaccinated.
