Sixty-five Clark County seniors ended their high school career a the 2021 Commencement, held Sunday, May 23, in the Clark County R-1 High School Gym. As usual, the gym was packed with family and friends for the event.
During his opening remarks, High School Principal Jason Harper noted that more than half of the Class of 2021 was graduating with honors, and that collectively, they had earned over 900 hours of college credit.
Class Secretary Zoe Hunziker welcomed the crowd to the ceremony.
The High School Chorus performed “Hold Fast To Dreams.”
Class President Body James speech, “The Class of 2021” recalled ups and downs of high school, including the particular challenges of the pandemic, and how the class overcame that adversity.
Co-Valedictorian Bre Chamley’s “Recipe For Success” used her love of baking to remind everyone of the ingredients required to succeed in life.
Co-Valedictorian Madelyn Johnson urged her classmates to follow their passions and to choose their paths in life carefully,
High School Principal Jason Harper presented the class awards.
Bre Chamley and Madelyn Johnson received the Co-Valedictorian awards.
Madelyn Johnson and Deacon Brand were honored for posting the high ACT test scores.
Bre Chamley was named Outstanding Senior Girl, and Sam Wheeler received Outstanding Senior Boy honors.
Kelsey Forquer was presented the Outstanding Leadership award. She was also a recipient of the Citizenship Award.
Abigail Reed also received a Citizenship award.
The final award, the Core Value/Character Traits award, was presented to Hailey Kerner.

Class members presented family members with white lilies, while “I’ll Always Remember You,” by Miley Cyrus played.
Mr. Harper presented the class to the audience and they turned their tassels before throwing their hats into the air.
