Clark County At Canton
The Clark County Lady Indians outhit Canton in their Monday, September 27 road contest, but it wasn’t enough to lift them to victory.
The Lady Indians went down in order in the first inning, with a pair of strikeouts and a fly ball. Canton would score a run on a walk, single and an error, to take a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Indians tied the game in the third inning. Hannah Hill walked to start. Ava McKay took her place as a runner. McKay advanced on a ground out by Erin Bash, and took third on a wild pitch. McKay scored on a passed ball to tie the game a 1-1.
Canton answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third, taking a 3-1 lead.
Clark County put a pair of runners on base in the fourth. Olivia Miller doubles, and Blair Webster singled, but both players were left stranded on base.
In the fifth, Clark County narrowed the lead. Bash bunted and reached base on an error. Alexis Ellison hit a sacrifice and reached base on an error. Ally Fox grounded to the shortstop, and reached first on another error to load the bases. Allie Hayden singled, scoring Bash. Ellison was thrown out at home, and Clark County trailed 3-2.
Canton got another run in the fifth to go up 4-2.
Bash would score the final Clark County run on a Hayden single, and Clark County would fall 4-3.
Hayden had two hits and two RBI’s to lead the Lady Indians. Ellison pitched six innings, striking out six batters and allowing only four hits.
Putnam Co. At Clark Co.
Clark County gave up three runs in the first inning as the Lady Indians hosted Putnam County on Tuesday.
In their half of the inning, Lady Indian Alexis Ellison got things going with a single. She stole second, and Ally Fox singled, moving Ellison to third. Allie Hayden singled, scoring both runners.
Putnam County added a pair of second inning runs.
Clark County didn’t score again until the sixth inning. Gloria Shannon doubled, and Kayla Yates took her place as a runner. Yates advanced on a ground out by Hannah Hill, and scored on an Erin Bash single to make the scored 5-3 Putnam County.
The Lady Midgets added a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to stretch their lead to 7-3, which was the final.
Clark County recorded 10 hits in the game, with Fox, Hayden and Miller each having two hits. Blair Webster pitched five innings, allowing five hits and five runs. Ellison pitched two innings, allowing two hits and two runs.
Clark Co. At Centralia
Clark County struggled to put runs on the board at Centralia on Thursday evening, and had a tough evening defensively, giving up nine runs.
The Lady Panthers scored runs in the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead early.
The Lady Indians got their first run of the game in the third inning. Erin Bash was walked with one out. She stole second. Ally Fox lined out. Bash scored on a single by Alexis Ellison.
Centralia added a run in the fourth, and two in the fifth inning.
In the sixth, Allie Hayden homered to give Clark County its only other run, on their way to a 9-2 loss.
Ellison threw six innings, allowing 11 hits and nine runs.
