The Clark County Lady Indians came up just short of earning their ticket to the Missouri Class 2 State semifinals in Springfield.
On Wednesay, October 20, Clark County hosted the quarterfinal contest against a very talented Marceline Tiger team.
A coin toss determined the home team, and the advantage went to Marceline.
Clark County put two runners on base in the first, with Allie Hayden getting a two-out walk and a Olivia Miller hitting a single. A ground out would strand the runners.
Marceline took the lead in the first inning with a two-out home run.
In the second, Blair Webster singled, and advanced to second on a sacrifice by Gloria Shannon. Webster was left stranded.
Marceline added second inning run to go up 2-0.
Ally Fox reached base with a third inning single, but was left on base.
A Marceline triple and single added a third inning run for Tigers.
In the fifth, Alexis Ellison drew a two-out walk. Fox doubled to left field, allowing Ellison to score for Clark County.
It would be the only run tallied for the Lady Indians, and their season ended with the 3-1 loss.
Fox had two hits to lead Clark County. Miller, Ebeling and Webster also had hits.
Alexis Ellison struck out seven batters and allowed seven hits.
