Cynthia Sue (Hoyt) Colwell, 67, of Alexandria, Missouri, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Cynthia was born on July 15, 1954, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Vernon Earl and Olive Genevieve (Varner) Hoyt. She graduated from Keokuk Senior High in 1972, and on August 4, 1989, she was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Colwell in Alexandria, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2019.
Cynthia held several jobs during her life, finishing her working career in housekeeping at Lexington Square in Keokuk. She loved her family, her friends and her community, and served on the Alexandria Town Board. She loved the great outdoors; and enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, air shows and cookouts. She also loved her cats.
Cynthia is survived by her son Clint Hoyt of Keokuk, Iowa; three step-children: Tracy (Ted) Colwell of North Carolina, Danita Brewer of Florida and Jeri Baker of Florida; her brother Mark Hoyt of Keokuk; four step-grandchildren: Mark Brewer, Dalton Baker, Nathaniel Baker and Caitlin Colwell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jerry; her step-granddaughter Meghan Ann Brewer; and three brothers: Vernon Lee Hoyt, Jr., David Hoyt and Bill Hoyt.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
