A Clark County R-1 teacher has been placed on leave with pay, pending an investigation into alleged remarks made by the teacher. On Monday evening, March 21, the CCR-1 school board held a special meeting.
CCR-1 Superintendent Dr. Ritchie Kracht released the following statement:
“This statement is in response to inquiries regarding the status of a Clark County R-I School District classroom teacher. Of course, the school district cannot provide specific information regarding personnel matters. We can tell you, however, that a teacher has been placed on leave with pay while the district conducts a thorough investigation of certain complaints that have been received. These complaints do not include any form of physical contact. However, they do involve remarks, that if substantiated, would not be appropriate in the school setting. The district will follow Board policy and applicable law at all times while conducting the investigation. However, we cannot provide any additional information at this time. If we are able, by law or policy, to provide additional information going forward, we will do so. In the interim, we appreciate the support of the school community as we move forward to provide the best education possible for our students through the end of the current school year.”
According to the minutes of the Special Meeting, all seven board members–Mark Plenge, Jason Acklie, Kevin Ross, Craig Hunziker, Doug James, Charles West and Heather Webster were present, along with Kracht and High School Principal Jason Harper and High School Assistant Principal Ben Taylor.
The board entered closed session shortly after 7:00pm under RSMO 610.021, Section 1 (legal) and Sections 3 and 13, (Personnel). The board adjourned at 8:05pm.
