The Clark County R-1 School Distict’s food service provider presented a report to the CCR-1 school board at their Wednesday, March 13 meeting.
Local Opaa! director Mindy Hanson reported that she has been trying to provide different options for breakfasts and lunches at schools and trying new items monthly at all grade levels.
Principals Ben Taylor and Jason Church commented on the excellent quality and variety of the food.
“We have been with Oppa! for 18, years,” said Superintendent Dr. Ritchie Kracht. “We could not do this with out them.”
Building Trades instructor Daniel Walker reported that his three morning and seven afternoon students are working on a five bedroom, three bath home on West Union Street.
“We’re working towards getting these students industry-recognized credentials,” said High School Principal Ben Taylor.
Board member Zach Nixon noted that other local contractors had commented how well Walker was teaching his students.
In other business, the board:
•Approved several board policies dealing with legalized marijuana.
•Approved insurance rates for dental, vision and life insurance.
•Approved the 2024- 25 school calendar, including three make-up snow days.
•Discussed the plans for summer school.
•Discussed the need to repair and refinish the High School gym floor, and replace the Middle School gym floor, which is the original floor from 1957.
