The Clark County Indians endured a challenging slate of non-conference games this past week, taking on West Hancock, Illini West, and Danville. Despite dropping all three contests, the Indians showed determination, with contributions from multiple players.
Wednesday Struggles Against West Hancock
The Indians opened their week on the road against a strong West Hancock squad. The Titans started fast, outpacing Clark County 17-14 in the first quarter and pulling away with a dominant 19-point second quarter to lead 35-21 at halftime. Although the Indians trimmed the deficit in the third, the Titans finished strong with a 24-point final period, sealing a 71-42 victory.
Senior forward Harrison Parker led the way for Clark County with 23 points, while senior guard Chayce Webster added six. Junior forward Kai Binsbacher chipped in four points, with sophomore Corrick Hunziker contributing three. Senior forward Isaiah Hardin and senior Austin Day rounded out the scoring with two points each.
Friday Thriller Ends in Narrow Loss
On Friday, the Indians traveled to Illini West for a game that came down to the wire. The Chargers doubled up Clark County in the opening quarter, taking a 13-6 lead. By halftime, Illini West led 21-13. The Indians surged back in the third, fueled by three-pointers from Wyatt Davis, Grayden Kleine, and Austin Day, cutting the lead to 30-26. In the fourth, Clark County spread the scoring around, but despite Hunziker’s strong performance at the free-throw line (5-of-8), the Indians fell just short, 42-40.
Harrison Parker and Corrick Hunziker shared the team lead with nine points apiece. Senior guard Grayden Kleine added eight, while Austin Day had six. Senior forward Isaiah Hardin contributed four points, and junior guard Wyatt Davis finished with three.
Danville’s Second-Half Surge Halts Indians
The Indians returned home Saturday evening to face Danville, seeking to end their skid. After a closely contested first half, Clark County clung to a slim 22-21 lead. However, Danville exploded in the second half, scoring 40 points, including 22 in the third quarter, to hand the Indians a 61-52 defeat.
Harrison Parker again paced the Indians, finishing with 17 points. Senior forward Isaiah Hardin followed with 12 points. Senior guards Chayce Webster and Grayden Kleine added eight points each. Corrick Hunziker and Kai Binsbacher contributed four and three points, respectively.
The Indians next take the court in the Highland Tournament, which begins January 6.
