The Clark County boys’ basketball team fought hard in the opening round of the 50th annual Highland Tournament but couldn’t recover from a slow start, falling 56-48 to Canton on Tuesday night. The Indians found themselves in an early hole after Canton outscored them 16-9 in the first quarter and extended their lead to 33-16 at halftime. Canton’s defense caused problems for Clark County early, making it difficult for the Indians to find offensive rhythm.
Despite the slow start, Clark County showed resilience in the second half, particularly in the final quarter when they outscored Canton 16-4. The late surge, fueled by aggressive defense and improved ball movement, brought Clark within striking distance, but the early deficit was too much to overcome.
Harrison Parker led the way for Clark County, scoring 15 points and providing a steady presence on the floor. Reid Sammons added 10 points, showing his ability to drive to the basket and create scoring opportunities. Kole Ross contributed seven points, and Lukas Weaver added five. Wyatt Davis scored three points, while Isaiah Hardin chipped in two. Kai Binsbacher rounded out the scoring with one point.
