ART AWARDS: At Monday’s Fine Arts Award Ceremony, Adrianna Riney won the Art II award, while Bethany Boyd won the Art III Award. Jennifer Gates-Art I, Madelyn Kelly-Art II and Shelby Cohen-Art IV and Senior Award.
On Tuesday, May 5th, DeLorus Leftwich was presented with the “Heart of FCE Award”. Among those on hand for the recognition were Debbie Whiston – Clark County Family Financial Education Specialist with the University of Missouri Extension Office, Edna Crain – DeLorus’ daughter Deanna Williams, Gloria Macomber – FCE District President, and Dixie Blum – Clark County FCE President.
OUTSTANDING MUSICIANS: Dylan Wright and Bethany Boyd were named the Outstanding Musicians at the Fine Arts Awards Ceremony, held Monday night, May 11. Boyd won the award for Chorus, while Wright earned the award in band.

Clark County R-1 High School held its graduation ceremony, with 71 students receiving diplomas. Valedictorian was Jenna Whiston. Kelly Keller was Salutatorian. Darin Winters was Outstanding Boy, and Jessica Nance was Outstanding Girl.
The DeWayne Selway family received the Blue and Gold Award from the Clark County FFA Chapter.
Sewer installation is underway in Luray and Revere, as they are both the beneficiaries of grants and loans for the projects.
The School district approved the sale of 0.27 acres of land near Running Fox to MoDOT, for the construction of the “Sheffler Interchange” between Hwys. 27 & 61

A tornado, Saturday afternoon, May 13, destroyed the homes of Richard and Gale Armstrong, a machine shed at the Kerr farm, campers at The Catfish Place and numerous outbuildings.
Kelly Fuge was named Outstanding Band student, and Shane Murphy received the Outstanding Art Award.

Lillian Pepple, who received a I rating on two vocal solos at the state music contest in Columbia has been awarded a scholarship grant for the Midwestern Music and Art camp at the University of Kansas.
Argene Welker, 12 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Welker of Kahoka, last seen riding her bicycle, was found unharmed early Thursday after a futile all-night search. She told authorities she had spent the night at the William Ewart farm home, east of Clark City.

Ed Hulse, who was tried last week on a charge of chicken stealing, was taken to the penitentiary by Sheriff Smith, Friday, to serve a two-year sentence.
The drives at the cemetery are being surfaced with slack in preparation for Decoration Day.
The Alexandria Light and Power company has sold its plant to the Missouri Light and Power Company.
