A few minor mechanical issues were discovered during the recent bus fleet inspection by the Missouri Highway Patrol. All have been corrected, and all buses currently used by the school district to transport students have been returned to service.
Saturday afternoon’s Backwoods Shenanigans Carnival was held at the Clark County Fairgrounds. The event was a fundraiser for Industrial Opportunities in Kahoka. There were several games and activities, vendors, the Clark County Fire Department, and live music throughout the day.

Joel DeRosear was selected as the honorary chairman of the 2005 Relay for Life.
Terry and Cinda James discovered an eight-foot-high pile of nest-building material in a barn. Starlings were attempting to build a nest on a rail where the material wouldn’t stay, and it piled up on the floor.
Tyler Ramsey completed Army training at Fort Benning.

Catch: Mark Cannon caught a 52 1/4-pound catfish on a bank pole in the Mississippi River.
Service: Nancy Uhlmeyer was honored for 25 years of service to the Clark County Health Department.

Terry James was selected to attend Boys State.
Oral Van Fossen has been replaced as sexton at the city cemetery, replacing Gilbert Young, who is moving to a farm near Ballard.

The annual Fourth of July picnic at St. Patrick will feature dinner and supper served by the Ladies of the Parish. A ballgame will commence at 10 a.m., followed by races and other amusements. An open-air dance will be held at night. Come and enjoy a day with friends.
