CLARK COUNTY, Mo. — A Wayland woman was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when her car ran off U.S. Highway 136, four miles east of Kahoka, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred at 2:45 p.m. when a 2012 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 79-year-old woman failed to negotiate a curve and struck an embankment. The vehicle was traveling eastbound at the time of the crash.
The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained serious injuries and was flown by Air Evac to University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa, authorities said.
The vehicle was totaled and towed by Brewer & Sons Wrecker. The crash was investigated by Trooper Horrell of Troop B, with assistance from Trooper Hurley, the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, the Kahoka Fire and Rescue Squad, and the Clark County Ambulance.
