After a severe thunderstorm put an early end to Relay for Life last week, a tornadic storm rolled out of Iowa and across northeast Missouri on Monday night. Sirens sounded in Kahoka as funnel clouds were reported in Scotland and Clark County on Monday evening.
The Clark County School Board of Directors approved a $10.3 million dollar budget for the 2016 fiscal year, which begins July 1. The budget projects total revenues of $10,307.917, with expenses being $10,155.512. The district is expected to finish next year in the black by $152,405.

The Wyaconda Baptist Church will be celebrating the service of the congregation’s minister, Pastor Ernest Deatrick on Saturday, July 16. Pastor Deatrick will be observing his 60th year of preaching and be retiring at that time.
Nicole Flood took part in the Missouri Electric Youth Tour to Washington, DC., sponsored by Lewis County REC.
Carla Derrick was honored as a “Seven Who Care” Volunteer.

Bids on the new CCR-1 high school are over $4.6 million, much more than the $4 million anticipated by the school board.
CCR-1 eighth grade science teacher Gloria Allen recently attended two workshops. The first was with the Missouri Department natural resources on water quality testing, the other a severe storm workshop.

Clark County Public Water supply District Number One is laying lines to Alexandria, St. Francisville and Revere; and from Kahoka to Williamstown.
The bike-a-thon the fairgrounds, Saturday raised $1300 for the cancer society.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fox to celebrate their golden anniversary.
A rabid dog was killed by Alan Woodruff at the John Uhlmeyer farm home, after it savagely attacked five sows and the Uhlmeyer’s two dogs. A large white dog, its owner is unknown.

John Gutting has bought a large two-story home from Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brown on Court St.
Patricia McWhorter had party for her friends on her sixth birthday. She declares she had the “funnest” time of all.

July 11, 1930
Walter Barrows, husband of the former Lucy Reilly of Kahoka, was seriously injured when struck by a car on the public road between Weaver and Fort Madison, Iowa.
Now comes historian William McKee and declares solemnly that at one time a stagecoach line was maintained between St. Francisville and Palmyra.
Miss Mildred Evans came down Tuesday noon from her summer home in Granger, and remained until Wednesday at her winter home in Kahoka.
