KAHOKA, Mo. — Area residents interested in supporting foster families have an opportunity later this month to become trained respite providers. Coyote Hill, a Missouri-based foster care ministry, is partnering with the Children’s Division in the First Judicial Circuit to offer a Respite Training Day on Saturday, July 26.
The training will be held at First Baptist Church in Kahoka, located at 363 North Washington Street, beginning at 9 a.m. Participants will complete a two-hour respite training session from 9-11 a.m. and a one-hour CPR and First Aid training from 11 a.m. to noon. Afternoon home visits will also be conducted to complete the licensing process.
Respite providers offer temporary care for children in foster care, giving foster parents time to take care of their own needs and prevent burnout. The training is open to individuals and families in Clark, Scotland, and Schuyler counties.
“Coyote Hill is a foster care ministry that recruits, trains, licenses, and advocates for new foster families in Missouri. We also train new respite providers to provide support for existing foster homes,” said Brittany McCaskey, Area Coordinator for Coyote Hill in Hannibal.
