Congratulations to Jackie Baker, RN, the July Spirit of SCH winner at Scotland County Hospital. Jackie works in the Infusion/Oncology Department. She has worked at SCH since 2018. Here is what her nominator said about her, “Jackie goes above and beyond many times a week for our patients. For example, we got a call that a chemo pump for home use was beeping, so she drove to the patient’s home and changed the battery! What has truly stood out to me is recently a co-worker got ill while working and had to have IV fluids ordered for her by a physician. There was no one else working in the ill employee’s area that was qualified to cover her patients so she could get the IV fluids. Jackie had worked in that department previously, so she went to that department and took that co-worker’s spot and was still able to give the infusion to the ill nurse.” Jackie is a native of Kahoka and a graduate of Clark County High School. She graduated from Southeastern Community College with an Associate of Science in 2015 and an Associate of Applied Science with an Associate Degree of Nursing in 2018. She is a Registered Nurse with chemotherapy certification. She has worked in our Emergency Department and on the Medical/Surgical Floor. She lives in Medill, MO, with her husband, two children and two dogs. In her free time, she is an avid reader.
