The family of Walter (Watt) and Rosaline Uhlmeyer held the Uhlmeyer family reunion at Oak Hollow Campground at St. Patrick on July 13.
Four generations of family members attended from Washington, Iowa, Kansas and Illinois.
Eliza Uhlmeyer of Columbia, Missouri, spent Sunday through Wednesday with her grandparents, Bruce and Melody Uhlmeyer. Eliza enjoyed picking blackberries, driving the side-by-side and swimming. She also enjoyed playing with her cousins. The blackberries over ice cream were a special treat for all.
Happy birthday greetings to Dale Schuhwerk, Chelsea Maples, Donna Flood, Britten Gray and James Gray.
The St. Patrick Euchre Club finally met last Wednesday after a three-week hiatus due to the extremely hot weather.
Sylas and Andrew Daughtry, sons of Steve and Kristen Daughtry, attended the St. Louis Cardinals Kids Clinic in O’Fallon on July 30. The clinic targeted boys and girls ages 7–13, and included instruction in throwing, hitting, fielding and base running, led by former Cardinals and alumni including Danny Cox, Greg Mathews, Benji Molina, and a special guest appearance by Pedro Pages. This was one of 17 clinics across the region. Each child received a Cardinals T-shirt, hat, goodie bag and a voucher for two tickets to a select 2025 home game.
St. Patrick was saddened to learn of the passing of Edith Johnson. Edith was a one-of-a-kind person, always volunteering for different causes and a devoted member of both the Shrine of St. Patrick and St. Michael’s parishes. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Shrine of St. Patrick on July 31, followed by a dinner for friends and family. Edith was buried in Revere Cemetery. I had the opportunity to work with Edith on addressing the special envelopes that St. Patrick offers each year for St. Patrick’s Day. Edith knew so much about local history. We had a great afternoon.
A reception was held for Tim and Kim Seckman after Mass at the Shrine of St. Patrick last Sunday. They have lived in the St. Patrick area and attended church here for several years. They will be moving to Wisconsin to be closer to their family. Good luck to them—they will be missed.
The break in the hot temperatures is welcome. It makes a person want to go outside and enjoy the cooler weather.
