Roberta McAfee Inducted into Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame
By Emily Bontrager
On August 16, 2025, Roberta McAfee received one of Missouri 4-H’s highest honors when she was inducted into the Missouri State 4-H Hall of Fame. This recognition is given each year to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to 4-H, volunteering their time, talents, and leadership to help shape the lives of Missouri youth.
Roberta’s 4-H journey began around 1996 or 1997 when her sons, Andrew and Scott, joined the Antioch 4-H Club. She was new to the program, never having the opportunity to participate in 4-H as a youth, but she quickly became a dedicated volunteer.
Over the years, Roberta has served in many roles, including project leader for crafts and cooking, Assistant Goat Superintendent, and assistant goat project leader when her daughter, Emily, was a 4-H member.
Her commitment to 4-H has extended far beyond club meetings. Roberta has played a key role in fundraising for the fairgrounds, contributing to projects such as the construction of the new small animal barn, cattle barn, and upgraded restroom facilities. She has also been a longtime supporter of the 4-H Art Hall, serving both as a judge and as the coordinator overseeing art entries for many years.
In 2024, Roberta made a special trip to the Missouri State Fair so her granddaughter could see her Art Hall exhibit proudly displayed at the state level. Today, she continues to stay active in the program, often taking her grandchildren to 4-H meetings and project gatherings to help foster the next generation of members.
Her dedication over nearly three decades has left a lasting mark on her community and the countless youth whose lives she has touched through 4-H. Roberta’s induction into the Missouri State 4-H Hall of Fame is a well-deserved honor that celebrates her unwavering service, leadership, and love for the program.
