Head Coach Ethan Allen previews season with experienced seniors, rising talent, and community pride
As the 2025 football season nears, Clark County Head Coach Ethan Allen is clear about what defines this year’s team — effort, attitude, and impact. The Indians return a core of experienced seniors and welcome emerging talent ready to step up under the lights.
Q: What’s the identity you want this team to have this season — on and off the field?
“On the field, we want to play with great effort and be hard-nosed each snap,” Allen said. “We want to have great attitudes both on the field and in the classroom. We definitely want to make a positive impact for the community and represent Clark County in the best way possible.”
That identity will be reflected in a senior group that sets the tone. Brennan Fuller returns as “our most experienced player on both sides of the ball and will be a big two-way player for us.” On the offensive line, Blake Rodgers anchors the unit with savvy and communication. “Blake Rodgers has the most experience returning on our offensive line and makes a lot of calls for us to make sure the blocking is correct from the other linemen.” He’s joined by fellow seniors Amos Phillips and Riley Moeller — two players Allen says “we will look to for leadership on our line because they are going to play a ton of minutes for us.”
Christopher Randle brings senior athleticism to the perimeter, and Avery Dent, another senior, is expected to contribute on both lines following a strong offseason. All six seniors — Fuller, Rodgers, Phillips, Moeller, Randle, and Dent — form the leadership core of a team driven to play tough, smart football.
Q: Who are some of the leaders, on and off the field, and how have they stepped up this offseason?
“Our leadership has been really good so far and our older players are doing a good job of helping our younger guys get better,” Allen said. “Reid Sammons has been really good for us to start the year and has been playing at a level that will be big for us on Friday nights.”
Q: What areas of growth or change have you seen since last season — in your returning players or team approach?
“I think our passing game could be more beneficial for us this season which will help out our running game,” Allen said, pointing to an offense that may be more balanced and dynamic in 2025.
Q: Which new faces should fans be excited to see make an impact this year?
Several younger players are already catching the coaching staff’s attention. “Lukas Weaver Jr. WR/QB/DB, Conner Waples Jr. WR/DB, Dallas Davis So. FB/LB, Avery Dent Sr. OL/DL, Tuff Pitford So. OL/DE, Cash Wilson Jr. WR/DE,” Allen listed. “These are some of the guys that fans should be excited to see.”
Q: What’s one game on the calendar that your team has circled and why?
“We always love a good matchup vs. Palmyra,” Allen said. “Our first game against Bowling Green will also be a great test to see where we are as a team. Playing Harrisburg has been fun the last couple of years as well because of our connection with Coach Claas and also with their addition of Coach Brayen James.”
Q: Anything else you’d like to add?
“We really appreciate the support we get from the community and we are looking forward to a great season.”
Guiding the team alongside Allen is a veteran coaching staff that includes Brock Egley, Jaden Bethel, Cason Wilt, Layne Sommers, Colt Sommers, Kyle Anderson, and Lance Smith. Together, they’re fostering a culture where toughness meets character — and where senior leadership inspires every rep.
With a battle-tested core, fresh talent waiting to break out, and a clear team identity, Clark County football is ready to write its next chapter — one hard-nosed snap at a time.
The Indians open the 2025 season on the road at Bowling Green on Friday night, August 29. The game will be live-streamed on the NEMOnews.net Facebook page.
