A new dining option has opened on the north side of the Kahoka square. Owners Kassi and Dusty Davis are excited to welcome the community to The Sub Shack, a fresh spot offering subs, salads, and soups.
Kassi and Dusty live just outside of town. After working at State Farm, Kassi decided to take a leap and bring something new to Kahoka.
“I feel like there was a need for it in town. Ever since Blimpie’s closed, there hasn’t really been anywhere to get a good sub sandwich or a wrap, something quick,” Kassi said.
With experience waitressing and working in several restaurants, Kassi said she has always enjoyed working with the public and is looking forward to providing something new to the area.
The Sub Shack’s menu features a variety of sandwiches, including ham, turkey, Italian, BLT, chicken bacon ranch, and tuna subs, which are available hot or cold.
“The subs are going to be pretty basic for now,” Kassi said. “I’m going to have wraps as an option, soups, and salads.”
For sides, customers can choose chips, and Kassi is considering adding other options such as Oreo Delight or potato salad. She also plans to introduce a meatball sub soon.
Bread choices currently include wheat, white, and Italian herb and cheese, with jalapeño cheddar possibly being added soon. Kassi also hopes to provide gluten-free options.
“Eventually I would like to offer some type of gluten free, whether it be a wrap or gluten free bread,” she said.
The Sub Shack will feature two soup choices each week, with additional specials like a chili dog day and a loaded baked potato option. Kassi also plans to offer text-to-go ordering to make pickup convenient for customers.
The Sub Shack is located at 229 West Commercial Street, on the north side of the Kahoka square. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Their number is 660-216- 1690.
