Larry & Ilene Howell to Celebrate 60th Anniversary
Larry and Ilene (Nichols) Howell will celebrate 60 years of marriage on July 2, 2026. They are both natives of Clark County, Larry graduating from La Belle High School and Ilene from Kahoka High School.
The couple were united in marriage on July 2, 1966 at the Kahoka Baptist Church with Gerald Davidson officiating. The wedding party consisted of Francis Benson as Best Man, and Darlene (Riney) Farren Maid of Honor. Other Attendants for the couple were Steve Schuster, Gilbert Nichols, Joyce (Riney) Nichols, and Diana (Strickler) Elam.
During their first 20 years of marriage, Larry served in the United States Air Force. He is a Vietnam Veteran and during His military career they were stationed at various different Bases. After his retirement in June of 1985, they returned to Clark County where Larry began to take over the family farm. Ilene opened and operated “Little People Day Care” in Kahoka for 11 years.
The couple have a very strong faith and are very active in their Church. They provide worship services, communion, and hymn sings for nursing homes. They love spending time with their Family, Camping, and going to Bluegrass Festivals.
They have three children: Steve Howell, and his wife Anne, Laura Miller, (and late husband Michael), all of Kahoka, and Gale, and his wife Kathy of New London, Iowa. They also have 4 Grandchildren: Darrin Howell, and His wife Sarah, Becca Green, and Her husband Vince, Evan Miller and Cody Miller, all of Clark County. They also are blessed with nine Great-Grandchildren.
