The Clark County Health Department will hold a men’s wellness clinic on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a physician available for exams.
The screening will include a blood draw for prostate-specific antigen (PSA). PSA results will be forwarded to your primary physician. Prostate cancer can often be detected early by testing the amount of PSA in the blood. If results are abnormal, further testing is needed to diagnose cancer.
The American Cancer Society recommends that health care professionals offer the PSA blood test annually, beginning at age 50. African American men and men with a father, brother, or son diagnosed with prostate cancer should begin annual screenings at age 45. Men with a PSA level of less than 2.5 ng/ml may only need to be retested every two years.
Medicare covers this screening once a year. A $10 donation will be accepted from non-Medicare individuals to help cover lab fees.
