MARY K. MOREHOUSE
Mary K. Morehouse, 91, of Wayland, passed away peacefully at 4:34pm on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Great River Medical Center in Burlington, Iowa.
She was born on June 11, 1929 at her family home South of Kahoka, the daughter of the late Otto Herman and Georgia Margaret (Applegate) Mohr.
She married Edwin Samuel Morehouse on June 24, 1972 in Wayland at the Wayland Baptist Church, he preceded her in death on June 8, 2003.
Mary was a stay at home mother for most of her life.
She loved bowling, quilting, and enjoyed putting puzzles together with her grandchildren.
Mary was also an avid gardener and one of the original board members of the Clark County Mule Fest.
She found pride in sharing a birthday with one of her great granddaughters.
Mary is survived by her three sons, Steven (Marlene) Gates of Burlington, IA, David (Mona) Gates of New London, IA, Edwin Morehouse Jr. of Detroit Lakes, MN; four daughters, Judy (John) Kealen of Lowpoint, IL, Zinda (Daniel) Zinnert of Burlington, IA, Glenda Kerr of Reeds Spring, MO, Sarah (Tony) Sanders of Mt. Pleasant, IA; twelve grandchildren, Stephanie (Darth) Reusch, Josiah (Chelsea) Gates, Jesse (Mallorie) Gates, Becca (Scott) Hartje, Jason (Christie) Gates, Andrew (Cara) Gates, Benjamin (Heather) Gates, Nathaniel (Erin) Kealen, Charlotte (Trevor) Silver, Johnathan (Kellie) Kealen, and Wesley (Jenny) Kerr; a sister, Janet (Francis) Parsons of Wayland; and a brother, Harlan Mohr of Keokuk.
Besides her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her brother Everett Mohr, her brother Herman Otto who died at infancy, a son-in-law Leon Kerr, and her beloved grandson, Collin Kerr.
In accordance with Mary’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
A graveside services honoring the life of Mary will be conducted at the St. Paul cemetery in Kahoka on Saturday, January 23, 2021at 1:00 P.M.
Wilson and Triplett Funeral Home in Kahoka has been entrusted with the care and arrangements.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mary are suggested to the Samuel A. Hartje Fund in support of those affected by spina bifida.
