VERNA M. VORNKAHL

Verna M. Vornkahl age 104 of Montgomery, Texas passed away June 30, 2021.   

She was born April 23, 1917 in Clark County, Missouri; the daughter of Harvey J. and Lenna Belle Courtney King.  

On February 21, 1937, she was united in marriage to Marvin E. Vornkahl in Kahoka, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by husband of 74 years, Marvin Vornkahl; parents Harvey and Lenna King; Brother, Lewis C. King; Sisters, Vera Martin and Norma Roberts; Brothers-in-law, Merrill Vornkahl and Melburn  Vornkahl.

Survivors include one daughter Karen (Joe) Clark of Montgomery, Texas; two grandsons David (Shannon) Howard of Austin, Texas and Michael Howard of Round Rock, Texas; four great grandchildren; Alison, Kevin, Evan and Kyle; sister-in-law Ruth Vornkahl of Burlington, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Revere, Missouri High School and was a rural school teacher until her marriage to become a help-mate on the farm.  

She is a member of Anson Community Church and faithfully attended for the 70 years they lived on the farm before moving to Texas in 2006 to be near their daughter in their last years. 

During those years on the farm she loved housekeeping chores, garden work, sewing, crocheting afghans and knitting, and time spent with her many friends.

She loved her family and was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. 

She experienced great joy in spending time and knowing her great grandchildren. 

A positive attitude was always a part of her outlook on life.
