The Clark County Indians established their place on the field this week, scoring a whopping 54 runs in four games, three of which were decisive Clarence Cannon Conference blowouts.
Clark Co. vs. Highland
On Monday, the Indians hosted Highland in a 20-0 rout lasting only two and a half innings.
Chayce Webster got things going for Clark County a double. Gracyn Holsted walked, followed by a walk by Drew Holsted to load the bases. Matt Miller walked, scoring Webster. Tristen Pitford singled, bringing two runners home. Lucus Eddleman walked to load the bases again. Koy Nixon singled, scoring Miller. Corrick Hunziker struck out for the Indian’s first out. Caleb Nelson hit a line drive single, scoring two. At the top of the order again, Webster walked, G. Holsted singled, scoring a run. D. Holsted singled, bringing in two. Miller singled, Pitford walked and Eddleman popped out. Nixon doubled to drive home Pitford. Hunziker was hit by a pitch, and Nelson hit a grounder to right and was thrown out at second, but the Indians had taken a 14-0 lead.
In the second inning, Webster reached base on an error, and G. Holsten singled. D. Holsted doubled, scoring Webster, and Miller singled. Pitford lined out, leaving runners on the corners, and Eddleman singled. Nixon slugged a drive to center, bringing home a run, and Thomas Church singled, followed by a single by Garrett Billings, scoring Nixon and putting Clark County up 20-0.
The game ended when Highland was blanked in the third.
The Indians had 20 runs on 19 hits, Webster, D. Holsted, Miller, and Nixon notching three hits each. Lucus Eddleman allowed four hits and no runs on the mound.
Clark Co. At Palmyra
The Indians took an early lead and never looked back in Tuesday’s road game at Palmyra.
Matt Miller drove in four runs on four hits to help lift the Indians to a 12-1 win over the Palmyra Panthers.
The Indians got on the board early with a Miller double, driving home a run. Koy Nixon drove home three with a single, putting Clark County up 4-0.
The Indians added two runs in the second. Gracyn Holsted singled, and Drew Holsted tripled. Matt Miller singled to bring D. Holsted home, giving the Indians a 6-0 lead.
The Panther got their only run when Ty Haskins was walked, then scored on back to back to back singles by Cade Lehman, Brodie Webb and Colby Cook.
Clark County added three runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take the 12-1 win in five innings.
The Indians had nine hits. Conner Shatley pitched three and third innings, giving up seven hits. Ronan Anderson closed, blanking the Panthers.
Clark Co. vs. West Hancock
The Clark County Indians let a lead slip away in Wednesday’s game against the visiting Titans of West Hancock.
The Indians scored two runs in each of the first and second innings, taking a 4-1 lead, but the Titans fought their way back bit by bit, and took the 7-5 win.
Clark Co. at South Shelby
Clark County played their fourth game in four days at South Shelby on Thursday, posting a 17-0 win over last year’s district champion Cardinals in just three innings.
With Clark County leading 3-0, Kai Binsbacher hit a three-run homer in the first inning to put the Indians up 6-0.
Not to be outdone, Tristen Pitford hit a grand slam in the second to put Clark County up 10-0.
The Indians added seven more runs in the third inning to take their eighth win of the season 17-0.
Binsbacker tallied three of Clark County’s 11 hits in the game to lead the batting.
Koy Nixon blanked South Shelby from the mound, allowing no runs or hits, and walking four batters.
Coming up this week for Clark County are Centralia and Brookfield.
