LOLA MAE (CHESNUT) HESSE
Lola Mae (Chesnut) Hesse, 90, passed away at 11:20 am on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, MO., with her family by her side. Lola was born on February 19, 1934 in Salem, AK., to Troy and Jennie Lee (Floyd) Chesnut. Lola Mae was united in marriage to Calvin Hesse on April 25, 1954, at Coweta, OK., and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2019.
Lola graduated from Coweta High School in Coweta OK. After high school she moved to Tulsa, OK., and was working in the office of Standard Insurance Company as a secretary until her marriage to Calvin. Then they moved to the family farm in Kahoka, MO. Lola became a fulltime farm wife. They raised and sold strawberries, filled many orders for home baked cinnamon rolls, doughnuts, dinner rolls and even furnished orders for many banquets. They also raised lots of sheep. Lola served as chairman of kindergarten class and was the PTA president from 1964 through 1965. Lola was the member of the Kahoka Presbyterian Church, she became Elder of the church in 1980, she taught primary Sunday school class, and was a clerk of session in 1996. Lola was also a volunteer for American Cancer Society, a Cancer Crusade Chairman for 25 years, Habitat for Humanity, Clark County Chapter, and represented the Kahoka Presbyterian Church at the ministers Association meetings. Lola loved Jesus Christ and her church. Her faith, friends and family were all very important to her.
Lola Mae Hesse is survived by her 2 sons: John Calvin (Dawn) Hesse Jr. of Revere, Mo., Ricky Allen (Lucretia) Hesse of Kahoka, Mo., 6 grandchildren: Michelle (Keith) Kleine, Devin (Jodi) Green, Brandon (Crystal) Green, Kristopher (Kris) Hesse, Kodi Hesse, Kelsie (Zoezf) Gerhardt, 9 great grandchildren: Jordan Green, McKenzie Green, Riley Cain Green, Chayson Kleine, Boden McKay Kleine, Graydon Kleine, Zachary Green, Ayden Allen Green, Emery Green, and other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters: Fannie Kate and her husband (Henry) Wolkey, Emily Pauline Hankins, two brothers-in-law: AJ “Chic” Anderson, Whit Bragg, and one sister-in-law: Catherine Anderson Bragg.
Funeral Services for Lola Mae Hesse will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 11:00 am at Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home in Kahoka, Mo., with burial at the Kahoka Cemetery. Lola’s sons John Hesse and Ricky Hesse will officiate.
A visitation will be held at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, with family present from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 pm.
Memorial contribution in memory of Lola Mae Hesse are suggested to the Kahoka Presbyterian Church.
