James “Michael” Kirchner
James “Michael” Kirchner, 73, passed away at his home at 7:56 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, surrounded by his family. Michael was born Dec. 5, 1950, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of John Nick and Bettie Lou (Logsdon) Kirchner. He married Cathy (Davis) Kirchner on June 10, 1972, and to this union a daughter was born. He later married Geraldine (Zielinski) Cooper Kirchner on Oct. 19, 1991, and with this marriage, a daughter and son joined the family. Michael graduated from Clark County High School in 1968. He worked as a truck driver for Gabe- Logsdon & Sons Elevator, then Ursa Farmers Cooperative, for a total of 40 years, retiring in July 2016. Michael had a passion for NASCAR and rarely missed a race. He enjoyed playing baseball and bowling in a winter league in Kahoka and Keokuk. He loved the outdoors, pheasant, quail, deer and turkey hunting. He also took pride in his garden. Michael is survived by his wife, Gerry; one son, B.J. (Jennifer) Cooper of Rogersville, Missouri; two daughters, Cari (Darrin) Watson of Atlanta, Missouri, and Teresa (Jonathan) Nadasky of Puyallup, Washington; eight grandchildren, Kaidyn Watson, Andy (Angel) Watson, Hunter and Jentry Cooper, Blake Maggart, and Lexi, Oliver and Isabel Nadasky; two great-grandchildren, Colton and Huntleigh Watson; three sisters, Joann (Larry) Spurgeon of Canton, Missouri, Jeanne (Richard) Brookins of Panama City, Florida, and Joyce (Roger) Sedore of Wyaconda, Missouri; two brothers, Mark (Julie) Kirchner of Kahoka, Missouri, and David (Kim) Kirchner of Montrose, Iowa. Michael is also survived by an aunt, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his bonus mom, Marie G. Kirchner; a brother in infancy, John Joseph Kirchner; and son-in-law, Brandon Maggart. Graveside services for James “Michael” Kirchner were held Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Frazee Cemetery, Wayland, Missouri. Father Rob Fields presided.
