The Clark County R-1 School District has named Lyndel Whittle as its next superintendent. Whittle, who currently serves as the superintendent of the Iberia R-V School District, brings over three decades of experience in education and a strong commitment to student success.
With ten years leading the Iberia R-V district, which serves about 700 students, Whittle is excited to take the reins at Clark County, a district with over 1,000 students. His experience includes 18 years in administration and 13 years as a teacher and coach. During his tenure at Iberia, he prioritized staff retention, district improvements, and financial stability while overseeing safety and technology upgrades.
“Clark County is one of those districts you hear about around the state,” Whittle said. “They’re known by other districts for doing good things for their kids. I want to continue that tradition and provide a positive learning experience for students.”
In addition to focusing on student achievement, Whittle is committed to fostering a supportive environment for district staff. He takes pride in the fact that, in some years, Iberia R-V saw zero staff turnover—a reflection of the positive culture he strives to create.
A northeast Missouri native, Whittle earned his bachelor’s degree from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) and went on to receive his master’s and specialist degrees from William Woods University.
As he prepares to lead Clark County R-1, Whittle acknowledges that funding, staff retention, and facility improvements will be key areas of focus in the coming years. His leadership officially begins on July 1, 2025.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to be part of this community and build on the great things happening here,” Whittle said.
Whittle will start his new role on July 1.
