PAUL EUGENE GUTTING
Paul Eugene Gutting, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and treasured friend, passed away peacefully on August 29th, 2025, at the age of 93. He was a man of deep wisdom, quiet strength, and unwavering kindness — a steady presence who shaped and supported the lives of so many.
He was married to the love of his life, Patricia Ann Winn Gutting, for an extraordinary 72 years — a beautiful, lifelong partnership built on deep love, respect, laughter, and resilience. Their devotion to each other was the foundation of our family and a lasting testament to what it truly means to share a life.
Paul was born to Delbert Gutting and Mabel Elwell Gutting on December 23, 1931, and grew up on the family farm, where he learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance with his younger brother Ernest Dean. He later stepped into the role of owning and running the family Ford implement dealership in Kahoka, Missouri, becoming a trusted figure in the community. After moving with his family to Reeds Spring, Missouri, in 1976, he later continued his entrepreneurial journey by opening the region’s first Kubota dealership — a bold and visionary step that reflected his tireless work ethic and commitment to serving others as well as being a successful real estate broker.
He served proudly in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1951 to 1961, and his service to his country was a source of great pride and meaning throughout his life.
A man of wide-ranging interests, Paul had a deep appreciation for antique engines, classic cars, woodworking and history. He loved sharing this knowledge with others, whether through stories, restorations, or quiet conversations in the shop. His mind was sharp, curious, and generous — always turning over a new idea, always ready to teach or lend a hand.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Patricia.
He leaves behind a family who loved him beyond measure: his three children — Kristopher Winn Gutting, (Rhonda) and (former wife Connie Gutting who will always be a part of our family), Nena Piemonte (Jack) and Samantha Gutting— who will forever be guided by his example and strength. He is also survived by his two grandchildren — Trevor Winn Gutting (Sherri) and Paul Anderson Foreman— who were always met with his warmth, wisdom, and quick wit; and his two great-grandchildren, Wyatt Winn Gutting and Kolton ___ Gutting who knew his unconditional love firsthand.
Paul had a brilliant mind and a heart to match. He was known for his intelligence, his remarkable ability to listen, and his gift for solving problems — not just with reason, but with compassion. He was the calm in every storm — the one we turned to when life felt too loud or too heavy. With his signature wit and thoughtful insight, he listened without judgment, offered advice without ego, and gave without ever expecting anything in return. His family, friends, and even acquaintances knew they could come to him — not just for answers, but for peace.
Above all, he loved his family with unwavering devotion. He was a steady, loving presence — the calm in the chaos — a quiet warrior whose strength was measured not in words, but in his actions and his constant presence. A man who carried burdens without complaint and loved without condition- his stories, his presence, and his fierce dedication to those he loved will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Our hearts are breaking at the loss of his voice, guidance and stories — stories that made us laugh, made us think, and always made us feel connected — and we grieve that we can no longer sit beside him and ask, “What should we do?” or simply listen as he shared his memories and wisdom. And yet, even in our sorrow, we find peace in knowing that his pain is finally over, and that he is home again — reunited with Mom, where he longed to be.
Paul’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, in the values he passed on, and in the quiet strength he modeled every day of his life. We will carry his memory forward in all that we do.
He is deeply loved and will be missed more than words can ever express.
