Clark County Boys Capture Consolation Crown at Tri-Rivers Classic

The Clark County Indians entered the 2025 Tri- Rivers Classic at Schuyler County with energy, firepower, and a hunger to compete. After a high-scoring loss in the opening round, the Indians bounced back with back-to-back wins to claim the tournament’s consolation championship — showcasing a team with a balanced attack and a flair for late-game poise.

Game 1: Early Shootout Slips Away Against North Shelby

Clark County opened the tournament with a high-octane battle against North Shelby, matching buckets deep into the second half before the Raiders pulled away late. The Indians scored 18 points in both the third and fourth quarters — a sign of their offensive potential — but a 28-point final frame by North Shelby proved the difference in a 68–58 loss.

Corrick Hunziker led the charge with a 23-point performance, finding ways to get to the rim and convert in traffic. Reid Sammons added 12, while Lukas Weaver dropped in 11 to keep the game tight throughout. Kai Binsbacher and Kole Ross also contributed valuable minutes, combining for 10 points, while Owen Eddleman chipped in 2.

Game 2: Big Second Half Lifts Clark Over Knox County

Refusing to dwell on the loss, the Indians regrouped and delivered a strong bounce-back win over Knox County. After a competitive first half, Clark turned up the defensive pressure and took over in the third quarter, outscoring Knox 14–4 and holding on for a 58–51 victory.

Weaver was red-hot, pouring in 20 points, while Hunziker continued his strong tournament with 16. Sammons added 10 more, and Ross delivered clutch buckets in the second half to finish with 5. Bench production also played a role — Wyatt Davis, Wyatt Billings, and Binsbacher all added to the scoring column in a total team effort.

Consolation Game: One-Point Thriller Over Brookfield

In a thrilling finale, the Indians edged out Brookfield 45–44 to secure the consolation title. Clark County took control in the second quarter with a 20-point outburst and held strong despite a late push from the Bulldogs.

Sammons led the offense with 14, while Hunziker capped off his standout tournament with 13 more. Binsbacher delivered his best game of the Classic, scoring 12 points and stepping up in critical moments. Weaver rounded out the scoring with 6 in a contest that showed the team’s toughness and composure when the pressure mounted.

Building Toward Bigger Goals

With three players averaging double figures across the tournament — Hunziker, Weaver, and Sammons — and timely contributions from veterans like Binsbacher and Ross, the Indians are establishing a clear identity: balanced, resilient, and unafraid of the moment. Younger players such as Eddleman and Billings gained valuable minutes, showing depth that will serve the team well deeper into the season.

This Tri-Rivers run may have started with a loss, but the way the Indians responded — with unity, defense, and late-game confidence — hints at a group that’s just getting started.
