Indians Fall to Macon in District Pitchers’ Duel
Clark County battled Macon in a low-scoring Class 3 District 6 baseball matchup, but the Indians could not push across a run in a 1-0 loss.
Macon scored the game’s only run in the top of the first inning after Isaacson was hit by a pitch, moved around the bases on wild pitches and scored on a groundout. From there, Clark County pitchers Ryder Howe and Grady Webster kept the Indians within striking distance.
Howe turned in a strong start, recording multiple strikeouts and working out of traffic early. Clark County’s defense also made key plays behind him, with Corrick Hunziker and Amos Phillips combining on several infield outs and Jaxon Noble and Wyatt Davis handling fly balls in the outfield.
The Indians had chances to answer. Ryder Howe and Phillips singled in the second inning, while Phillips walked and Grady Webster singled in the fifth to put runners in scoring position. Hunziker added a triple in the sixth, giving Clark County another opportunity to break through.
Clark County made one final push in the seventh when Phillips walked and Webster reached on an error, moving Phillips to third. Macon escaped the threat with a strikeout to end the game.
