Grab Your Smokers for the Annual Smokin in the Park BBQ Competition
The St. Francisville Masonic Lodge #588 is preparing to host its Annual Smokin’ in the Park BBQ Competition on Saturday, June 27, at Omakohak Park in Kahoka, Missouri.
The idea for the event took shape when lodge members, many of whom enjoy grilling and smoking meats, decided to organize a friendly barbecue competition.
This year’s competition features several categories, including Wet Ribs, Dry Ribs, Kabobs, and Open Class, where participants can cook whatever they want. The entry fee is $10, and all proceeds will benefit a local charity selected by the event’s overall winner. All donations collected will be matched.
There is no pre-registration required, and participants of all ages are welcome to enter. Contestants may compete in any or all of the available categories. Electricity will be available on-site for those who need it.
Participants may light their cookers whenever they choose. Judging will begin at 3:00 p.m.
Spectators are encouraged to sample the entries and support the winning charity through a donation jar at the event.
The competition is all about having fun, so grab your smoker and come out for a great time. Whether you want to compete or simply enjoy the atmosphere, everyone is welcome.
In addition to the BBQ competition, St. Francisville Lodge #588 has rented the Kahoka Swimming Pool and invites the community to enjoy free swimming from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
