The Clark County R-1 school board has two new members and a slate of new officers following their Monday, April 15 meeting.
At the top of the agenda, Broderick Bush and Deana Hunziker- Ball were sworn in as directors, replacing Jason Acklie, who did not run for re-election, and Charles West.
The new board president will be Kevin Ross. Mark Plenge will serve as Vice President, and Doug James will continue at Treasurer.
Kellie Lemmon, along with four students, demonstrated the Robotics program for board members.
“It was a great demonstration,” said Superintendent Dr. Ritchie Kracht. “Even though the robots didn’t work well on our carpet, the students showed us how they were programmed.”
Several patrons, led by Erick Arnold, were in attendance to discuss building opening times.
“We told them the same thing we said last time,” Kracht said. “That we will review it during the summer when we know what our staffing and bus driver situation is.”
In other business, the board:
•Approved continuing the Career Ladder program, which pays teachers extra for tutoring and other approved activities.
•Approved and MSBA policy on drug testing.
“It’s really no change for us,” said Kracht. “Just some language changed in the policy.”
•Approved the purchase of floor maintenance equipment for custodians.
•Rejected a Building Trades project bid. The district will seek other bids.
•Approved the hiring of Phillip Haverstock as Assistant Band Director Shawna Allen as an elementary teacher, and Sue Jenkins as MS/HS nurse.
