KAHOKA, Mo. — The streets of Kahoka will come alive with music, movement and community pride on Saturday, Oct. 11, as more than 16 high school marching bands gather for the 34th Annual Parade of Champions.

This beloved tradition, hosted by the Clark County R-1 Fine Arts Boosters, promises a full day of exciting performances — from a high-energy parade through downtown to a dynamic field show competition under the lights.

“Parade of Champions is a 34-year-old tradition that began with brave and innovative parents who wanted to support our band program,” said Ardith Harmon, president of the Fine Arts Boosters. “Now, our community gets to enjoy hosting some of the finest high school bands in the region.”

The parade kicks off at 2 p.m., led by an Honor Guard. Bands will march along the west side of the square, turn onto Main Street and continue east to the high school. Marching fans can expect an impressive showcase of musical talent and visual flair as schools compete along the route.

This year’s parade lineup includes bands from:

Knox County High School, Quincy High School, Davis County Middle School, Quincy Notre Dame High School, Schuyler County R-1, Warsaw High School, Davis County High School, Canton Junior High, Canton High School, Central Lee Middle School, Central Lee High School, Scotland County School, Clark County R-1 Middle School, and the Clark County Marching Indians.

The excitement continues at 5 p.m. with the field show competition at Clark County High School Activity Field. The event opens with the National Anthem and a combined performance from the Clark County middle and high school bands. The competition follows, concluding with a special exhibition by the Clark County Marching Indians, who will debut their 2025 show, “Sweet Dreams,” featuring selections from Mister Sandman, Sweet Dreams, Sleep and Enter Sandman.

Spectators can expect a wide range of musical styles — from cinematic scores to pop favorites — in performances that are sure to impress. Admission to the field show is $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors over 65, and free for children under 5. Event programs will be available for $5.

Field show competitors include Davis County, South Shelby, Quincy Senior High, Warsaw, Central Lee, Scotland County, Bowling Green and Quincy Notre Dame.

“It is so incredible how the community pulls together to make Parade of Champions happen each year,” Harmon said. “This extends way beyond our amazing parent volunteers. We have businesses, city officials, community members, local farmers, churches and many others who always step in to make this incredible day happen.”

Commemorative T-shirts and concessions will be available throughout the event.
