Fair Board Starts 2026 Improvements
Several facility improvements have been made at the Clark County Fairgrounds in recent years, and this year’s improvement to the grandstand may be the most noticeable to date.
In 2025, electrical upgrades were completed for the concession vendors and campers, along with new decking in the box seating area, replacement of wood in the seating area, and updates to the south ramp. New fencing installed last year along the north end of the track also improved safety for campers in that area.
For the past two years, insurance requirements forced the Fair Board to permanently close the doors along the back of the grandstand, and the area was used for sponsorship banners. However, during last year’s fair the heat during evening events was intense, prompting the board to review options that would allow part of the back of the grandstand to be opened again to improve air movement.
This week, work on that improvement began. The project is being completed by Riverside Building Solutions and IB Handyman LLC.
The old wooden doors and structure will be removed, and new wood framing will be installed with sliding doors that will open ten-foot sections to allow airflow. The wall will be constructed of metal to eliminate the need for future painting and will include a section for permanent sponsor signs recognizing those who support the fair at a Level 6 sponsorship.
The doors will be mounted on a double track to prevent them from swinging outward if winds pick up. There will be a ten-foot solid section followed by a ten-foot section that can be opened across the entire back wall. Inside the openings, metal panels will be installed for safety so that children cannot access the openings.
Feedback from community members at last year’s fair indicated a need for better air movement and an improved speaker system in the grandstands. In addition to refurbishing the back wall and adding openings for airflow, the board plans to install fans in the grandstands and is working to replace the speaker system.
These upgrades to the facilities are made possible through the sponsorships of community businesses and individuals who have faithfully supported the fair. Progress continues to be made each year to improve safety and enhance the fair experience. The Fair Board appreciates the community’s support as it works to update facilities and infrastructure on the fairgrounds.
