Flag Day Celebration Planned June 12 On Kahoka City Square

KAHOKA — The Kahoka/Clark County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Flag Day Celebration Friday, June 12, on the Kahoka City Square.

The event will feature a morning of patriotism, community spirit and family fun as residents gather to celebrate the nation’s flag. In case of bad weather, activities will be moved to Black Hawk Elementary.

Parade registration will begin at 9:15 a.m. at the northwest corner of the square, followed by parade lineup at 9:35 a.m. The parade will begin at 10 a.m.

Participants are encouraged to decorate bikes, wagons, strollers, scooters or walking groups in patriotic red, white and blue.

Following the parade, the celebration will continue with a flag raising ceremony, the national anthem, a flag retirement ceremony, a Quilt of Valor presentation and prize awards.

Prizes will be awarded in individual age groups, including ages 0-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-11. Group awards will include best summer school class, best daycare and best organization.

The public is invited to attend and show their American pride during the community celebration.
