McDaniel, Weaver Win District Titles

SHELBINA, Mo. — Mason McDaniel and Lukas Weaver led Clark County with district championships Saturday, May 9, at the MSHSAA Class 2 District 3 track and field meet at South Shelby High School. McDaniel won the boys 3,200-meter run in 10:24.36 and added runner-up finishes in the 800 and 1,600. He placed second in the 800 in 2:01.72 and second in the 1,600 in 4:40.98, advancing to sectionals in all three individual distance events. Weaver won the boys triple jump with a mark of 12.98 meters and also qualified for sectionals in the long jump, placing fourth at 5.92 meters.…

CCR-1 Holds Academic Awards Night

On Monday evening, the Clark County R-1 gym was packed with students and families gathered to recognize their academic achievements for the school year. For more than an hour, students in all high school grade levels were recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom. Clark County Fair Board Completes Grandstand Improvements

The Clark County Fair Board’s grandstand improvement project was completed last week at the Clark County Fairgrounds, giving the grandstands a clean new look while also improving airflow throughout the seating area. The old wooden doors and structure along the back of the grandstands were removed, and new wood framing was installed with sliding doors that open in ten-foot sections to allow better airflow. Inside the openings, metal panels were installed for safety so children cannot access the openings. Palmer wins 100-meter dash at Clarence Cannon meet Clark County’s Cabell Palmer sprinted to a conference title Monday, May 4, winning the girls 100-meter dash at the Clarence Cannon Conference Meet at South Shelby High School in Shelbina. Palmer won the 100 in 13.42 seconds and added a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 28.53 seconds. The Clark County Indians bounced back from a 1-0 pitcher’s duel against Quincy Notre Dame with three straight wins, defeating Hamilton/Warsaw, Mendon Unity and Monroe City during a strong late-season stretch. By Emily Bontrager Joanne Ragan, a resident of the Clark County Nursing Home for the past six months, was named 1st Runner-Up at the Missouri Health Care Association District 6 Long-Term Care Pageant. Joanne represented the Clark County Nursing Home at the pageant, held April 16 at the Knox County Community Center in Edina.
