Make Plans To Attend 22nd Annual Mule Festival
It is time to come to the Clark Co. Mule Festival when it is September 14th, 15th, & 16th, 2007. It is held at the Clark Co. Fairgrounds (Business Route EE or old Hwy 136) just outside of Kahoka, Mo. In the northeast corner of Missouri. This will be the 22nd year of this great event. People from all over the United States come to our mule and craft show!
This weekend features a Saturday and Sunday all day funny mule show as well as Friday night mule polo, team penning and roping. Saturday night is the Rodeo with all the exciting thrills of any rodeo. The festival also features area crafts, flea market, tack vendors, food, trail ride on Saturday and Sunday mornings, coloring contest, and camping. The main gate admission is free but a $2.00 commemorative button is sold to help with festival expenses. The $2.00 button is also required as admission to the Saturday night Rodeo.
City Council Hires Jena Church as Utility Billing Clerk
On Monday evening, August 27, the Kahoka Board of Aldermen voted in Special Session to hire two city employees. The two positions were for Water / Waste Water person and a Utility Billing Clerk. The two positions became available when Darrel Winter the former water employee had resigned to work for the county and Barb Webber, the former Utility Billing Clerk had sought employment in Kansas City.

In the absence of a full board at Thursday’s meeting of the Kahoka Board of Aldermen, Jerry Webber filled in as Mayor Pro-Tem, leading the council through a full agenda. Mayor Herb Butler and Alderman Curtis Mack were absent.
After opening the meeting with the public tax hearing, the board moved through the agenda.
35th Festival Of Bluegrass Kicks Off Wednesday
The Kahoka Festival of Bluegrass Music, celebrating its 35th year which opens on Wednesday, August 15th will run through Saturday, August 18th.

Ninety-six golfers braved Saturday’s the heat and humidity for a good cause, as the Seventh Annual Mark Trump Memorial Golf Tournament was played at Kahoka’s Twin Lakes Golf Course. The event funds the Mark Trump Scholarship, given to area students pursuing careers in agriculture or aviation.
